Search Profile listing
April 06, 2011, 11:42:26 am
Hi,

I am checking to make sure the behavior I'm seeing is normal. Using Civicrm 3.35, drupal 6.20:

IF I do an advanced search, and under "search views", I select my custom Profile , named "Program List" . This profile includes a column called "Program Attending", a custom data field . If I DONT choose to filter the search based on one of the items in the "Program Attending" custom field, then this column is blank in the results view.

I'd like to VIEW the 'Program Attending' field in the list of results, even if I am not SEARCHING with it- is this possible?

jim

Jim,

I am not sure if I understood your usecase. Let me explain "search views" feature. When you select profile from search view, search result selector will display the fields in the profile. So if you don't select the profile, fields should default to contact fields.

Hi,

Let me explain. I am selecting my profile from the 'search views' dropdown list. the results that are returned include a column that is in the custom profile, but not the data that should be in that column-it's blank. So a record will be displayed, but the information in that field will not be displayed in the search results.

I will try to reproduce this on the demo site, and will post this here when I do.

OK, I tried to recreate this issue in the demo site, but couldn't.

After looking at my custom data set that included this field, though, I noticed it was marked "Use For " : Individuals -> Students (the contact sub-type ) . I edited this within the Custom data set to "Any" , and my profile listing began providing the information for this column. Not sure what I had screwed up in there. I suspect my issue had something to do with a mismatch in the type of data that was to be stored in there and displayed in the profile.
