Exporting address ID of household/org in order to import contacts
April 06, 2011, 03:25:35 pm
Hi,

I am trying to import households/orgs and their contacts. All works ok except when I want to share an address.

If I could export the address ID of the primary address record for each household/org then I could import this into the linked contacts Master address ID field.

The import exists but the export doesn't. (I can see fields in the export to export the shared address ID and the owners name but these only populate from the child record when it's shared address is set up already and gives you info about the parent record.)

Have I not spotted the correct field name in the export? Or is there another way of linking the contacts new address to the household/org address at the point of the import?

Or do I just need to write some SQL to extract the address ID direct from the dbase?

Cheers for any help,

Dave

Dave - 'address ID' is not currently available in contact export. Seems like it would be useful for migration flows like the one you're doing. Want to look at developing a patch to add it - jump on IRC if you need help.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the response!

I'm quite new to civicrm and I'm getting my head round it slowly. I'll see if I can find some free time early next week and jump on IRC and chat to you about where to start with this.

What time zone are you all in so I know when to be on IRC?

Cheers,

Dave

Some of us are west coast US, some Warsaw and some Mumbai (so lots of timezones covered) - and there are many other folks on IRC who can also help.

Is this where this issue stands - no way to import individual members of households such that they share an address with the household?
