New git mirror on gitorious
April 07, 2011, 01:14:08 pm
Hi,

I've set up an git-mirror for the civicrm-subversion repository on gitorious. I'm currently working towards letting it sync daily.
You can find the repository on https://gitorious.org/civicrm/civicrm-mirror .

What's already there:
* A git repository that tracks all branches and tags
* Regular synchronization

What's still to do:
* Create an authors-file and redo the import once again to have a nicer history
* Clean up old and unused branches.

I'm open for suggestions ;)

I personally switched to git about 9 months ago in anticipation of Drupal's move to git.  I really like it.  What would it take to move CiviCRM to git officially?

A few folks to do it:

1. Two folks to sit down and design / layout where we are and where we are going and the changes required

2. Someone to project manage the whole process and keep it moving along

3. Two folks to do the actual work

4. Someone to transitition the current deployment and translation scripts to the new version (i.e. the integration with sourceforfe and transifex)

(am using two folks for redundancy more than anything else)

Hi,

FatherShawn, did you follow how drupal managed the migration ? I'm assuming they have well documented the process and issues they faced, sure we can benefit from their experience.

I'm thinking that it would be beneficial(/mandatory) if the 3.4. branch is going to end up as a community maintained one.

i think in the end, the drupal association ended up hiring and paying for 2 people (or more) to help do the migration. Its fairly well documented in various drupal nodes and long trail of comments

This may be a mirror but I stumbled on another git clone of the svn repo here git://code.creativecommons.org/civicrm.git
