Batch update copy is filling all columns
April 07, 2011, 02:40:01 pm
I made a profile for updating some custom data. There are two columns, one with many checkboxes and one with one checkbox.

When I get to the screen where I update the data ('Update field values for each contact as needed...') I only want to copy down the second column with one checkbox. So I check the box and click the copy icon, the one with the alt text Click here to copy the value in one row to ALL rows.

This copies down for both columns. Bad! Is this a known bug? We're on 3.2.3 and yes we are upgrading at the moment.

thanks

EDIT: I've just added a text field in between the 2 data fields on the profile and it didn't copy down. It seems to be only the checkbox ones doing it.

OK I've realised I don't actually need the first column to be there; I just needed to search on it. Still seems like a bug though.

Yes - search on some Individuals and use 'Batch update test'

This bug also exists in 3.4 / 4.0 and is non-trivial to fix. I've filed an issue for fix in 4.1:

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-7899

If this is critical for you, please investigate and file a patch.
