Unable to save SMTP authentication password
April 09, 2011, 10:33:11 pm
Either when I try to just save or save and test my SMTP server's authentication password, I get the following

Fatal error: Class 'CRM_Core_BAO_Setting' not found in... (there is a screenshot attached).

The test succeeds but the password is not being saved

Hard to say. For a simple test, try a simpler password with just letters and see if still fails.

The password is good. It has been used before and works. The problem I'm getting is shown in the attachment. I use the save and test button. The authentication to the SMTP server (civismtp.uas.coop) is successful and the test email is received.

The attachment shows the subsequent failure and the password is not saved.

FYI running Civicrm 3.2.3 and Drupal 6.19

Your attachment failed to attach. My suggestion was to try a simple password just to see if it will SAVE it or not. This is called debugging--trying to focus on what is the problem. Give it a try and let us know.

The attachment is there. I can see it, download it and view it.

I have also used a "simpler' password. Same result as that shown in the attachment.

This was solved by adding a line to the Smtp.php file to require the script that contained the class. I checked Jira and did not find a report from anyone about a similar problem.

Just had the same issue here on 3.4.5 . Created issue http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-8839 with patch.
