disable active price set field

using version 3.3.5. I try to disable a field in a price set that is in use but the disable is ignored. Should i be able to disable a field in a price set that is being used by an event?

It should allow to disable.
If you edit the field and uncheck checkbox  'Active', is it becomes disable?

I tried it on the price set screen and editing the price set field.  Disable is ignored.  no error message generated.

Hmm - not seeing this problem on the public demo (3.3.6):

If you can replicate it there - please post the specific steps.

unable to replicate.  FYI   we are on 3.3.5.
