Adding contacts to Event?

Hi all,

Along with a programmer who set up CiviCRM for my organization, a number of fixes regarding Paypal feedback to CiviCRM were corrected. Notably, participants to one Event should now be added automatically to that Event once the payment is completed in Paypal. However some participants were not added to the Event before the fix, and I need to add them to the same manually.
 
To this point I miss an important feature: under the contacts list, there's no way to add a contact to an Event (only to group, household, or organization). I moved my contacts to the group "XY" that is part of the Event, but even by doing so the Event doesn't display the members of that group. Is there any easy way to batch add contacts to an event?

Check out the Import Participants option under the CiviEvent menu. You would need to assemble a .csv file to import with contact ID or email, first and last name for matching + the event ID and event status.

What would be great would be to add "add to event" to the dropdown following contact search.

Did your programmer modify CiviCRM code and make fixes for event there? If so, can you please let us know the list of changes along with the reasoning behind it (or the bug it fixed), so we can make the equivalent changes in the main code base for the rest of the community :)

The changes 've been made in the code base...and backported to 1.7 as well :).

The fix handled the completion of non-USD Paypal transactions.

This is now on the issue list for 1.8
