Internet Explorer Support - Missing search fields
January 06, 2008, 08:53:00 pm
Hello,
I have done some intense searching to try to find what browsers are officially supported by CiviCRM, but I cannot turn up anything.
Are any versions of Internet Explorer supported? The CiviCRM 1.9 demo site (as well as my own site) look fine on Firefox 2.0.
When I try to use the demo with IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803 (my currently installed IE), the pages definitely do not look right. Major issues:
1) In Advanced Search, the only Blue "Expandable" field available is "Address Fields" and when I click it, it does nothing. There is nothing else below that, but the page appears to end clean. The footer: Powered by CiviCRM 1.9.12267. etc .. is still there.
2) Spacing between menu items is also much greater than it looks on Firefox, like there is an extra line break between items.

I am a Firefox user myself, but many of our staff use IE. Does anyone know if it is supported, and if so, the reasons for this strange behavior?
Thanks in advance.

We usually try to test CiviCRM on different browsers across various platforms when we do a release. We had done some amount of testing on IE7 and it worked fine. Its bit hard for us to test all version of IE or any other browser. We try to get CiviCRM working on latest browser release.

So it would be great if you can submit a patch for this.

thanx
