Setting Filters on Custom Data Fields in the Case Details Report

I have been able to set Custom Data Fields in the Case Details Report, however when I try to use them as filters I get an error “DB Error: no such field”.
Code: [Select]
Database Error Code: Unknown column 'activity_civireport.id' in 'on clause', 1054
Additional Details:
Array
(
    [callback] => Array
        (
            [0] => CRM_Core_Error
            [1] => handle
        )

In CRM/Report/Form I have $_customGroupFilters set to true.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to fix it.

Also it looks like it is something that has come up before.
