Updating CiviCRM 4.0 alpha to beta 3
April 18, 2011, 02:21:28 pm
Hi,

I'm attempting to setup a new website for 911 Media Arts Center in Seattle.  Mind you this has been a bit of a rough go for me, as I'm an artist/designer with some code skills, not so much the other way around.

We've been using CiviCRM here for a couple years as a "back end" admin tool and would now like to integrate it with the front end of our site (current site is wordpress, migrating to Drupal so we can implement CiviCRM).

As this is all new and in development I've been using the latest Drupal 7.0 and CiviCRM 4.0 to develop with, as seen here in a possibly very broken state:

 dev.911media.org

I'm finding many little bugs along the way, and now have many questions, but I'm thinking it may be a good idea for me to install the latest development release before reporting them to help avoid duplicates.

So, my first question(s): How do I upgrade from CiviCRM 4.0 alpha to the latest beta release?  Or should I just wait until the production release?  I've found upgrade instructions for going form 3.x to 4.x, is it something similar?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best,
Joseph Gray

Yes, CiviCRM upgrades are incremental, this should help: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Upgrade+Drupal+Sites+to+4.0
