date picker in joomla

i'm getting odd behavior with the date picker in joomla --
however it's not replicating in the sandbox.

the popup works fine, but on selecting a date it inserts the site url in the date field.
just wondering if others have seen this behavior.
support CiviCRM through 'make it happen' initiatives!
