With Joomla is there a out of the box field setup to keep a members profile private?  I found the a field for unsubscribing a member.
Thanks

If I am going to create a profile for a membership directory and I have a member that does not want there information (name, organization and email) to be included how can I keep that from happening?  Would I need to enter them into a different group?

Any help if apprecated.

Hi Jules,

1. Create a custom field called "Include me in Membership Directory."  Include it on the profile you use for collecting information about your members. Make it a required field and set the default answer to "yes" while allowing people to also select "no" and thus opt out of being listed in the directory.

2. Create a Smart Group for all contacts that said "yes" to "Include me in Membership Directory."

3. Create a CiviCRM Profile for fields to be displayed in the membership directory. In this Membership Directory Profile >  Advanced Settings > Limit listings to a specific group, select the Smart Group created in step 2.

Thus the only people listed in the Membership Directory will be people who agree to be listed and the member(s) who want to keep their information private can opt out.

See "Creating a website member directory" at http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Creating+a+website+member+directory for helpful directions on the whole process.

Hope this helps,
Michael
