choice between paypal and offline 'later' payments
April 21, 2011, 10:10:13 am
Hello,
I can set up events with PAYPAL payment and events with off-line 'later' payments. Is there a way to set up event fees where the participants can choose between direct PAYPAL payment or off-line payment ? I just want each participant can have a choice.
Regards,
Delvasse

Configure PayPal as a payment processor AND enable the Pay Later option in the Fees tab when configuring your event. More details on setting up events here:

In the JOOMLA front-end, the option 'pay later' is ignored in citievent
April 22, 2011, 09:59:37 am
I made a form for booking an event with two activated payment options : PAYPAL and the option 'pay later'.  With JOOMLA 1.5.22 and CIVIEVENT 3.4, via the back-end in TEST-MODE,  I can check the option 'pay later' while booking an event. When the form is filled in completely, I receive instructions for the payment. As wanted, I don't have to pay with PAYPAL because I didn't choose it.
The life situation is wrong. In the JOOMLA front-end, I select an event for registration. I select also the option 'pay later'. Nevertheless, I'm invited to pay with PAYPAL without receiving the 'pay later' instructions. Is there a workaround ? Thanks, Delvasse

That is not expected behavior. The front-end form should behave the same as back-end. Please try and replicate on our public demo (link above). If you can replicate, please post an issue to the issue tracker w/ exact steps (and post back here w/ links to the demo event page you created). thx!

To replicate this civicrm behavior, you need to access to the event from the front-end of JOOMLA
Here you find the live link : http://www.lapprentissage.be/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/event/register&id=3&reset=1
Check the box 'Pour payer par virement'. When the form is submitted, you will be warned it's time to pay with PAYPAL....
Best regards,
Delvasse

Hmm - I just registered from that page and checked the pay later box ("Cocher ici si vous voulez payer par virement.") and completed my registration steps through to the thank you page. I was not prompted to pay with paypal (nor redirected to paypal site).

Please delete my registration since it was just a test :-)

Thank you for your intervention. Did you try with INTERNET EXPLORER ? 'Pay later' option is ignored only by MS INTERNET EXPLORER.
With GOOGLE CHROME and FIREFOX, I can toggle between with or without the 'pay later' option, PAYPAL information appears correctly on next screen. Not with Internet Explorer... ?? ???

See : http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,17398.msg73299.html#msg73299

Your answer : Would be great if you can investigate using IE developer tools. Our expertise with IE is pretty limited / non-existent and hence cant be of too much help.

Ok, so it's an IE issue. Not clear on whether the block of fields that collects billing address and credit card is properly being hidden when you check Pay Later? and / or whether the problem is that the is_pay_later flag (checked) value is not getting passed along to the confirmation (next) page??

If you want to try and work on this, perhaps jump on IRC and see if folks can help you figure out what's happening and how to fix it. Would definitely be good to get pay later working on IE.
