Uncaught exemption "XML data could not be loaded"

I just installed civiCRM and after installation trying to access any part of it gave me the following error;

Same issue, but with Joomla

Same here. Joomla 1.5.xx. Trying to install CiviCRM 3.5.

delete the media\civicrm directory and see if that fixes it.  after a bunch of research that was all I had to do.

Thanks! I just found that directory a minute ago and deleted it. Now I'm going to try again...

Indeed it worked! I was about to try using an older version of CiviCRM, but your post made me go ahead with the latest version, saving me the trouble of upgrading. Thanks again.

Jon - Can you check trouble-shooting section of the installation documentation and see if this issue is covered? If not would be great if you could add it in so others don't have to scratch their heads for too long!

I was getting the same error. Resolved it by clearing out the templates_c directory.
