CiviMember Roles Sync - not working WSOD

I have recently migrated servers, and upgraded Civi from 3.3.3 -> 3.40. CiviMember Roles sync no longer works. It prints no errors to the watchdog, and there are no php errors in the log when a user logs in / logs out or cron runs or I attempt to manually sync. When attempting a manual sync I immediately get a blank screen.

My UF_match table tallys up with my drupal users as far as I can see (though I haven't checked all 8000 of them!), so I am completely lost as to where the error is coming from.

The new server uses fastcgi and memcache: would this have any effect?

this was a bug in 3.4.0

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-7960

this will be fixed for 3.4.1 (in a few weeks from now). You can download the patch by clicking on the fisheye link in the above issue

The Civi team are always one step ahead! Thanks for such a prompt diagnosis -- it seems to be working as expected now.
