Still Not understanding dedupe rules

I set up a profile form that gathers First, Last, Email, DOB, Gender and a few other fields.

this profile is set up to update existing members, and my default strict check assigns 10 points for email 7 for last and 5 for first, with a threshold of 20.

For some reason with these settings when i register for an event it still creates a duplicate contact for me.

can anyone enlighten me as to what I am doing wrong.

What are your default strict and fuzzy dedupe rules ?

Do you accept multiple registrations from the same email ? Was a bug around that, but should have been fixed on the latest version of civicrm

Strict and fuzzy are the same

Email = 10
Last = 7
first = 5

Threshold = 20

I am allowing multiple registrations from the same email address.

Should have caught that you are the same person. Can you try on drupal.demo.civicrm.org see if you can reproduce the bug ?
