Order Lookup Functionality

I was just wondering if someone registered for any event & by any chance they lost their receipt or the event confirmation pdf that is sent via mail, then how can they recover it? 
Like how can I achieve such functionality that if someone lost all the information of his/her event receipt or confirmation letter then there is some page on which he/she just put their event registered email id & get a copy of their receipt or they are not registered for any event then accordingly some message [obviously].
I have attached the demo of method, I found on ticketleap.com, so wondering is the same thing possible with civicrm too?
If this happens already?If not how can I do this?

yes this is possible, but currently there is no code that implements it.

Would be great if you can add this as a feature to CiviCRM / CiviEvent. The page will be a public page and the receipt will be emailed to the participant (to avoid disclosing any information to the submitter)
