Hi am getting the error message below attempting to access the administer/configure/global settings/outbound email(SMTP/Sendmail settings (I'm trying to configure the CiviMail settings)

The web page at http://ns1.siteground279.com/~bethech6/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/smtp&reset=1 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error.

I have been in to this option before and set values and other configuration screens work OK. I'm running 3.3.3

I have also received this message before when trying to import records - it' looks like some sort of timeout??

Any help appreciated.
