Datasheet View of Contacts?

I would like to create a datasheet view of contacts that is editable.  This would be more convenient than opening up each record individually.  Hopefully, it could be created as a result of a search, then sorted and filtered. 
Is this possible, without a hack?  Perhaps as a profile?

You can create a profile with fields that you want to edit and then search contacts and use task action "Batch Update via Profile".
