Unable to add new organisations or individuals
April 27, 2011, 04:40:07 am
Hi there, I have installed version 3.4 on my Joomla 1.5 site but when I attempt to save a new contact, organisation or individual I get an error message saying; Sorry a non-recoverable error has occurred - DB error : insufficient permissions.

Civimember is enabled and my user account for Joomla is in the super administrator group.

Not sure what I am doing wrong here and any help would be appreciated?

Cheers
Anthony

Have you checked the access your database user has for the CiviCRM database?

There are no access control for CiviCRM in Joomla 1.5

this feature is part of Joomla 1.6 + CiviCRM 4.0

Digsport, there should be more details to that error. Can you post the full text?

Thanks for the replys.

The error just reads a non-recoverable error has occured. I have had support from my host and fixed permissions on files etc but they say it is a compatability issue which I would have thought with so many people using civicrm that wouldn't be the case.

I would really like to sort this and use civicrm. My second choice was community builder and I have a similar error occur when trying to install that which reads:

"Unable to create directory '/'Unable to create path for /install_4dc003cd4aee1/index.html
Installer - Error
Uncompressing /usr/local/pem/vhosts/107846/webspace/httpdocs/administrator/components/com_comprofiler/pluginsfiles.tgz failed."

My guess is they are related.

Can I back up my Joomla 1.5 site and then restore into 1.6 and download civicrm 4.0?

Cheers

CiviCRM has specific requirements for its hosting environment, and not all hosts can support it. Here is the"Technical Requirements" from the About CiviCRM page http://civicrm.org/aboutcivicrm :

Technical Requirements

CiviCRM is a web-based solution that runs on your own web server, or on a server at your hosting provider. Installs on local machines should consider using the XAMPP/WAMP stacks which almost painlessly install Apache/PHP/MySQL.

Quote
CiviCRM is resource-intensive. We encourage users to consider Virtual Private Servers (VPS) OR (semi) dedicated hosting OR shared hosting from a host with experience hosting CiviCRM. Please review our Hosting provider information page for hosting options.
    Apache 2.0+
PHP 5.2.1+ (PHP 5.3 is supported starting with CiviCRM 3.2)
    MySQL 5.1.x+ with InnoDB support
    Drupal 6.x or 7.x / Joomla 1.5.x or 1.6.x
    Server cronjobs
    128mb PHP memory limit recommended
Multi-lingual features of CiviCRM require TRIGGER and CREATE VIEW privileges

If your host can't handle it, I would recommend finding another one that can.
