Help upgrading 3.1.5 to 3.4.0
April 28, 2011, 02:51:10 am
Hi!

When upgrading to version 3.4.0 I get the following error message:

Code: [Select]
Database Error Code: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SELECT @option_group_id_act := max(id) from civicrm_option_group where name = 'a' at line 9, 1064
Any help?

Can you post your precise MySQL and PHP versions?

Are the versions sufficient for running CiviCRM 3.4.0?

Yes, they are. I am not sure about why you get that error. :(

Would it be possible to just start of from 3.4.0 and just migrate all the data in the current database?

Yes, you can certainly do that--use Export to get the data out of the old and then Import it into the new.

Yes, import and export exist in CiviCRM. See the book http://www.flossmanuals.net/civicrm/ for full details.

When I use this method, will the relationships between, for example, a contribution and the contributor stay valid?

You should be able to use an identification field and preserve those, yes.
