This happens with a Custom Data field when I chose it to be a Textarea. The selection of the number of rows and columns is not obeyed at all. It doesnt matter what values I give in. I have for instance told it to have 48 columns, but then on the Drupal account page it is much more then that (runs off the page, so I cannot tell). The height is supposed to be 6 rows, but it is 7 lines high and also displays a vertical scroll bar.

Also with the inbuilt Note field - which is also a Textarea afaik - this also runs off the page horizontally. Here there is no  option to set the width/height on the Drupal account page

I had set the width too wide still, when I narrowed it furthe the box fit, so it effectively obeys the setting in Civicrm, and as to the second field (Note). Here the width cannot be set since it is an internal field so It has to be done with css, but I deceide to not display it to my users anyway.
