Search Engine Friendly Links for Contribution page

Is there a way to make the link a bit nicer?  I want to set it up so that the user can go to the donate page and see ...

https://domainname.com/donate

...and not the long full URL.

I have .htaccess on and search engine friendly links...but CiviCRM seems to not be affected by these settings.

Is there a good renaming extension to use?  I've seen there are issues with sh404sef...

Any help would be appreciated!

Okay I've set it so that the form is the home page.  So that's a start.  :)

But all of the non-SSL pages are coming up as https and I don't want that.

Is there a way to switch it off for the other pages?

Did you ever find a solution for this. I'm also looking. I tried to put in some php that would just pull the url from the browser but it did not work within the CiviCRM formatting.
