Possible 4.0 bug? Search-based mailings hang

Upgraded to 4.0, and while doing some a test came across this-


If I create a normal mailing (Mailings > New Mailing > select groups) the emails are sent properly.


If however I create a mailing based on search results (Search > criteria = whatever > Action Schedule/Send a Mass Mailing) the mailing supposedly does begin, because the Schedule Mailings page posts a Started time, but it does not post a Completed time, and no emails are sent at all.

(Just for the record, when doing the tests I was selecting the exact same contacts for both mailings, in mailing 1 they were selected via their group, in mailing 2 they were selected via a search result).


I would test on the sandbox but mailings don't work anyway from the sandbox.

Can anyone let me know if this is happening to them too? If yes I will file a bug report.

can u test this on the sandbox and see if u can reproduce there

u can manually trigger the mailing by using the url

q=civicrm/mailing/queue&reset=1

it goes thru the mail flow, but sends all email to the /dev/null bucket. However if there is something wrong in the process it will be shown here

Yup this happens on the sandbox too:

Have a look at the sandbox mail report: http://d7.sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/mailing/browse/scheduled?reset=1&scheduled=true

Note that mailing devtest via group which was a normal mailing initiated by going to Mailings > New Mailing has 'Report | Reuse | Cancel | Delete' buttons but mailing dvetest which was a search-result based mailing does not have the 'Reuse' button b/c the mailing is still 'happening', it is hung.

http://d7.sandbox.civicrm.org/civicrm/mailing/queue?reset=1

and both mailings completed

the mailing via search does not show a reuse because it was a "search" based mailing, as such the user does not know who/what the group now is that drove the mailing (they can see the list of recipients)
