Does CiviCRM synch with Drupal, Joomla
January 12, 2008, 04:43:08 pm
I've got an established Drupal-based website for a sporting club. I'm looking at adding CiviCRM to support more info about our members and player registration via CiviContribute.

It seems from my reading that Drupal and CiviCRM play well together. However, having installed CiviCRM and configured membership types and so on, I'm having trouble getting the two to synch. By this I mean having one user-id and being able to move between both Drupal and CiviCRM.

So if a member logs in to our website using their Drupal account, how do they automatically get to their CiviCRM account? Is this even possible? From the user's point of view, I'd like it to be seamless, ie. they shouldn't notice they've switched into CiviCRM to update their details and pay their rego. Can this be done?

Any pointers appreciated. I've been reading the CiviCRM wiki, but I've been unable to find what I want.

All changes made by a logged in drupal user affect the user's contact record. So there is a relationship maintained by civicrm between the drupal user id and civicrm contact id

Ah terminology  :) So Drupal has a user and CiviCRM has a contact. Both have IDs. Cool.

That the relationship is maintained is also good news. Can I see one from the other? I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any change to a Drupal user's attributes. But can you see a contact's corresponding Drupal user id? Can you display it as a clickable link?

Thanks.

yes, from the drupal my account page, we expose a link to the civicrm contact record and vice versa if you have the right permissions to view/edit contacts
