It seems that a joomla registration creates a CiviCRM New Individual contact. This user can now log in and edit this profile via Profile edit link.

However, I want that joomla registrant linked to another profile, and this seems only possible if the joomla user is created during the creation of the CiviCRM contact, not if the joomla user is created before the CiviCRM profile.

If  a joomla account is required during the creation of a profile, the user is able to create the form and go back and edit it later.

However, if the user already has an existing account, and then goes to create a profile, they can create a new profile, but not log in later to edit the profile. The only profile they can edit is the New Individual as it was created during the creation of the joomla account.

The profile is an 'Artist' in my case and I get this error:
This profile is configured for contact type 'Artist'. It cannot be used to edit contacts of other types.

Hope someone understands what I mean...
and can suggest something...
