Names being overwritten with names from other records

This has been an intermittent problem that is now a widespread problem since upgrading to 3.2.3. Yes we are upgrading to 3.3.6 but can't wait until then to sort this out.

People are complaining that they go in to edit their details and find they have someone else's details in there, usually just First Name and Last Name but sometimes address as well.

We have also had duplicate records appearing with just first name and last name in them, copied from the first name and last name of other records.

Any help appreciated.

no, not going to say 'upgrade' ;-)

when you say "people go in to edit their detais" - what are they accessing to do this?profiles?

have you sent out any emails recently with checksums for people to alter their data?

what is change log saying about the time of these changes?

are there any contacts whose names are now incorrectly showing in someone elses records and contact them to ask if they filled in any forms recently?

are you using any other modules that are pushing data in to civicrm eg Ubercart integration or custom modules?

i think you need to flesh this out a bit for us to help unless this is just a fishing expedition to see if others are reporting same problem - but given that you are talking 3.2.3 it sounds unlikely unless you have only just uncovered a bug there after using that version for a reasonable time.

Yes, they edit it via profiles

Yes, every CiviMail we send has these

The log says the user made the changes themselves, but it wasn't them, it was a different user who also received an email with a checksum

There are plenty of contacts with names incorrect now, and we know they filled in forms recently because we've been emailing people constantly asking them to

yes we are using custom modules, but this started happening before that code was implemented.

We have narrowed it down to being from profiles with checksums sent in CiviMails. It's very difficult to recreate the issue.

I "think" this has been posted as an issue with a patch from Andrew Miller at: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-8089 (do correct me if these are not related).
