Automated Welcome Series
May 11, 2011, 08:54:19 pm
Is there any way to create a welcome series of emails for new subscribers?  Basically, I want new subscribers to get a series of four emails (one immediately to welcome them, one about a week later to ask them to spread the word, one a week after that encouraging them to get involved, and one a week later to encourage them to become donors or sponsors).  During this "welcome" phase, we would suppress them from our normal newsletter.  Then once the series is complete - they'd go into the normal newsletter group (which we send monthly).

In other systems, I can create a query based on record creation date.  Then set the emails to send automatically based on 0, 7, 14, and 21 days.  If this isn't possible with CiviMail - is there some workaround that you can suggest?  Perhaps using smart groups somehow?  And is there any way to set up a daily recurring email and suppress anyone who has received it previously?  (So everyone can remain in the same group, but if they have already received it, they'd be in the "do not mail" list.)

I would love to automate this as much as possible since I'm a volunteer and have a day job. :)

Thanks!!

I'd like to second this question - it's an important email marketing feature.

EXACTLY what we were hoping CiviMail could do for us! We were not able to find a way to make CiviMail that flexible, so we are still using Xtreeme Followupexpert http://www.xtreeme.com/followupxpert/

This feature is currently not implemented. Would be great if we can get a group from the community to organize and help design and implement this feature. There are a few other things happening with CiviMail which moves in this direction specifically with regard to CiviEvent and Activities, check:

http://civicrm.org/mih#eventmail

I think this would help the project a lot, so if this is of interest to you/your org, please help lead the effort. I suspect a first phase implementation will take approx 40-80 hours (depending on feature set etc)
