Setting up a mass mailing
May 12, 2011, 01:06:29 pm
I am trying to set up a mass mailing.
In Advanced Search I select the entire group of found contacts and then select  Send/Schedule a Mass Mailing.
While working in Dutch this does not work, I have to switch back to English as the working language. Then the wizard does indeed start, but even then something strange happens. My Advanced Search produces 304 results, but the wizard asks me later tro select a 'Base group' . My 304 adressees are part of this group but the entire group contains 645 addresses. And after the selection of this base group my recipients suddenly number 645. That was not my intention. Can one only sent to entire groups and is the selection one can make with advanced search irrelevant?

The Base group is meant only to collect unsubscribe requests from the mailing. I would create an empty base group called

"Unsubscribed Saved Search Mailing Group" and use that as the base group for all my search based mailings.

Shouldn't it be the same logic to apply to "normal" civimail ?

Right now, it unsubscribe to any group that has been a selected as a target. say that you are registered to "VIP", "board member" and "News alert, twice daily", if you un-subscribe, you will be removed from all the groups, where you (or I) would want you to be unsubscribed from the later.

ie. setting a group as the default/"base" group when you select the targets ?
