Cancel Recurring Contributions

Hi all,

I may be not be too on the ball about this, but is there an out-of-the-box way that CiviCRM handles cancelling recurring contributions? In other words, is there an automatic process for a user who wants to cancel the recurring contribution that gets registered automatically in CiviCRM? Or would the user have to contact the organization and the administrator cancels the recurring contribution manually in CiviCRM?

If the process is automatic, does anybody know of a flow chart out there somewhere that might demonstrate the process?

From what we can see, takes someone with admin perms to Civi to cancel contributions. So it would be necessary to have some sort of a "cancel form" at the site, member hand enters the cancel req, and someone within your organization manually processes the cancel req. That person at your org needs the correct perms within Civi to cancel charges.

That is my understanding, though I am not really on the Civi application team within our organization.

How are recurring contributions canceled from the admin side?  I can't even find that. 

If I 'delete' a recurring contribution from the 'Find Contributions' page that gives the 'view,' 'edit,' and 'delete' options, it just removes its from the contribution table, and not from the contribution_recur table.  So I assume that it's not canceling the recurrence.  I'd like to leave any past contributions in the contribution table, and end any future ones.

I think I've found the answer that I was looking for, and that is to change the contribution status to canceled in the Edit Contribution page.
