Minor inconsistency between recording a membership contribution and renewing it
May 16, 2011, 06:18:28 am
If I enter a new membership and record a payment, I record the date of entering the membership, and then when I say "record contribution" I can also record the date of the contribution and the "send receipt" is not ticked by default.

If I then renew that membership, I enter the date of the renewal the same, but when recording the contribution I am not given the option of recording the payment date, and the send receipt option is ticked by default.

It's a minor thing, but the inconsitency is odd.

EDIT: On the renewal screen, it tells you the Membership Organisation/Membership type and then gets you to click a button if you want to change it. However, it has loaded up the thing it will show you if you press the button anyway and then hides it - wouldn't it save load times/button clicking just to show it in all cases? If you want to keep it the same, you just don't fiddle with the drop-downs.

Hi EdP,
Thanks for your sharp eye on these details. Regarding

our initial goal was to keep a simpler interface for the majority of cases where the membership type and organization would not change rather than reduce clicks when it was to be changed. I'll chat with the core team about this.
