Mailing Content - (step 3 of 5) Seeing HTML
January 14, 2008, 01:29:41 pm
So far when reusing a previous mailing 2 out of 4 people can not see the HTML content - it just does not seem to be there.  Strangely a different 2 see the content just fine.  We're checking on the demo to see what they see.

I'll make up an official chart, but person that could not see the html message code is running I.E. 7.  He has the same issue on the demo.

I normally run FireFox, so I tried with I.E. 6 and when I get to CiviMail step 3 of 5, I get an alert box that it is trying to install MicroSoft Access (which is already installed on this PC).  I can fight my way through and cancel the installation and then see the html code.  ... let's try on the http://demo.civicrm.org - yep - same issue.   I do have quite a few things installed on my PC so maybe my I.E. 6 experience is an unusual case.

I have seen the MicroSoft Access installation attempt on another PC with a different JavaScript editor that I was testing.

Works fine for me with FireFox 2.  I think I'll get more data before jumping to conclusions.

I have found the wysiwig editor to have many undesirable features so I have given up and compose HTML with Dreamweaver or Nvu, save it as a file then upload. This method saves a lot of hassles but then the file is not stored on the CiviCRM server

That is a good idea - we could compose someplace else then upload or cut and past.

I wonder how to modify the page to create a link to another editor page?   Also, if anyone cares to cooperate in using a different editor like Whizzywig: http://unverse.net/ - please let me now.  It is free (although I made a donation) and I use it on all the sites that I produce.
Other discussion of editors here:
http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,1662.0.html

We have now tested a dozen PCs with CiviCRM / Drupal using I.E. 6 , I.E. 7 and Firefox 2 - I'll start another thread with the results for others to verify.
