Membership not updating after cron execution
May 19, 2011, 05:59:36 am
Hi Everybody!

I have a funny little problem where my memberships are not updating correctly.
For example I have a contact with a membership that expired on the 3rd of May, then the contact renewed his/her membership on the 4th of may.
The Membership update script runs a couple of times every day. In some cases the previous expired membership goes into a grace status or expired.
The new(renewed) membership then becomes pending. The case of the pending membership is more common.
If I run the Membership Update script it will not update these records still. The only way to update them is to click edit and save the membership manually. Not ideal.

Anybody know what the problem could be?

Thanks heaps

Matt

You are running a slightly outdated version 3.2.2.  I am not entirely sure, but this could be a bug that was fixed in a later version of 3.2.  If you have no custom programming or modules that might be affected negatively, there is no reason NOT to upgrade to at least the latest version of the 3.2 series and see if that fixes your problem.

You could also upgrade to 3.3.6 which is a very stable version.

Thanks Stoob,

I'm definitely due for an update. So I will try this. I have no custom code as such.
Would going straight to 4.0 be risky?

Thanks.

going to 4.x means switching to Drupal 7 - is that your plan?

I would avoid 3.4/4.0 and jump to a more mature release such as 3.3.6 or 3.2.6, at least for the time being.  Explore 3.4 in a couple months.

Did you upgrade and did it fix the problem?   I think I'm having the same problem.  I'm on 3.2.4.  There must be a way to check to see if there were any updates to that section of code for a particular release vs just trying it.
