Civimail reporting: changes in 3.2 to 3.3?
May 24, 2011, 07:18:13 am
After upgrading a site from 3.2 to 3.3, the civicrm administrator noticed that:

1. it was reporting open rates of greater that 100%
2. old reports that used to be 30% now showed greater than 50%.

When I looked at a recent mailing (since the upgrade), i noticed that that calculation of the number of recipients seemed to be wrong, i.e. it was showing 995, but when I clicked on that number, it had a long list and claimed to be 1006.

Another, possibly unrelated observation: the click throughs now seem to be listing total click throughs where they used to list unique click throughs. This is somewhat confusing, and makes historical comparisons less useful.

Is there some documentation about how civimail reports might have changed between 3.2 and 3.3?

Here is some more evidence:

Intended Recipients   686
Successful Deliveries   689 (100.44%)

Could someone please respond? What is going on here? Version 3.3.6

In 3.3 and prior, CiviMail reporting basically used the groups / smart groups that were set in the original email for reporting. In 3.4 we use a new table for this and base all reporting of this.

As such in 3.3 and prior if your groups increase/decrease in size, civimail will use that number.

i'm guessing this is the issue

This is still happening. Our newsletter group has had 29991 intended recipients for about 6 weeks. It is a standard group added to weekly and I have stats to prove it.

Latest mailing:

Intended Recipients   29991
Successful Deliveries   30036 (100.15%)

There is most definitely something wrong with the reporting.
