Link Custom Search to Custom Report?
June 06, 2011, 12:12:37 pm
I have started to customise CiviCRM to fit our organisation and I have created a number of custom reports.

I have also started to create our own custom searches, however it seems that for where I may have a custom report (template) that defines columns and criteria for our business needs, I need to recreate these using custom search.

Is there any way to construct a form for a custom search passing the entered criteria to an instance of a report, so that I don't have to create the columns, criteria and layout again? (In fact, I could make do with a single variable)

I think I need to better understand the structure of CiviCRM.

I got the general idea that I create a form using smarty / QuickForm and POST the entered variables to the instance of the report. In the 'preProcess' function (I think), I GET, check and apply the variables...

Apparently, this is simple php.

I'll work with what I got. Thanks
