SMTP configuration Qs
June 07, 2011, 02:11:04 am
Anyone knows where was the SMTP configuration data stored in civicrm?  either in DB or as a configuration txt file?

The system seems to stored the SMTP mailer information somewhere in the system and i want to clear these data.

Thanks  :)

SMTP configuration data is in the database I believe. To change it, you can simply adjust the settings via the Administration pages of CiviCRM's web interface.

I never had any SMTP configuration problem using 3.4.0 or other lower version, but using the same setup (e.g. server name, port and email addresses) for 3.4.1 and 3.4.2 returns failure to send test email (code: 550, response: 5.0.0 Access denied).   ???

I don't think we changed anything around that part between 3.4 and 3.4.2. Would it be possible that the smtp server has changed something ?

Otherwise, try to debug to find what is exactly the params used for the smtp authentication.

In 3.4.1 and 3.4.2 I've uncovered a problem which causes the Test Email to fail, even though the sending of emails continues to work.

See http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,20215.0.html

The problem will occur if you set a non-standard configuration (host != localhost, port != 25, and authentication).

As a workaround, try sending an email via CiviCRM to your own contact record. If you are able to send email you can ignore the error you get for the Test Email.

I tried your suggestions and it turns out that sending of email to my contacts works fine.

Thanks heaps, Ken!

Issue CRM-8272 has been raised and the fix is scheduled as part of 3.4.3.
