Is the maximum 50 emails through 'send to contacts' an absolute?

I need to get the people who viewed our online seminars to complete a questionnaire (profile with link including a checksum token) so that we can send out their personalised continuing education certificates.  This needs to be done urgently as their professional re-accreditations are due soon.  I have 870 people to send it to and so want to use Civimail, but it is not working (someone is looking into that but with no success so far). 

Is there anyway to increase the number of emails that can be sent in a batch through "send to contacts"?  I know it is not good practice, but it is hopefully a one-off (unless the certificates also need to be sent that way).  I will include an unsubscribe link in the email - though if people unsubscribe they won't get their certificates.

Not possible for such a large number, you really should have civimail working.

What you could do is get the list, select the first 50 on the first page, send an email, got to the second page, select 50, send an email...

Actually, no, what you really should do is have civiMail working ;)

Thanks for the reply Xavier.

I knew we should be using civimail, but I needed to get the email out and I had no direct control over getting civimail to work.  I was desperate enough to think of doing it 50 emails at a time but was hoping I wouldn't have to do it that way.

Fortunately the problem with civimail was fixed and I could send it out properly.
