Entering recurring contributions paid by bank standing order
June 10, 2011, 02:45:52 am
Most of our donations come in the form of bank standing orders whereby users instruct their banks directly to pay us a set amount via bank transfer at a set interval (usually monthly). I'm struggling to find a way of implementing this in Civi.

All we need is for admin to record the payment as recurring and then check every month that payments have come in as expected. No payment processors or reminder e-mails to customers are needed and we don't need to provide an option for the customer to record their own recurring contribution.

I can't imagine we are the only organisation that needs to do this but after a thorough search through the documentation and forums I can't see a way of doing it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks!

1. check: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,20101.msg83991.html#msg83991

2. You can potentially use pledges but thats a lot more hackish (IMO)

3. quite a few orgs have expressed a need for this. So far most/all of them have either hacked it or worked around it. Would be great if a few orgs could get together and get this into core. I suspect the first forum topic might make a good starting point

Thank you. Will check out the module you refer to.

This functionality is fairly fundamental to UK charities. It would be fantastic to get it into the core. Would be interested in participating in that with others.
