I've been reading through all the user documentation regarding synchronizing Drupal users and CiviCRM contacts, but I still have some confusion about assigning users to groups when they are signed up and controlling access.  Here's what I need to do:

1) Contacts sign up for membership in organization using contribution page.  Contact chooses from one of three membership types at signup, pays with CC, and fills out other custom profile fields.
2) User is added to group based on membership type so access to search pages can be controlled by group.

Is there a way to add a member to a CiviCRM group dynamically based on the membership type chosen at registration?  It looks like you can add a new contact to one specific pre-selected group per profile, but nothing dynamic, correct?  So therefore, it seems the admin will need to manually add a new member to a group.  Am I understanding correctly?
