No there's no other table--what you have is correct.

The only idea that comes to mind is that you have a permissions or ACL setting wrong. Because it seems quite odd...

I didn't set any permissions in the ACL after I installed civicrm. But when this issue cropped up, I added the edit/view events permissions to the administrator. That also didn't work. Where else can I look for this issue?

I really have no idea. What you could try is to rename your civicrm.settings.php and make a new DB and reinstall and see if the issue persists. If not, then at least you can have a "good" install to compare to.

I did try that. I did a fresh install of both drupal 6.22 and civicrm 3.4.3. Do I need to change anything in .htaccess?

There should be no need to edit that file. Does your new install work?

No it doesn't. The permission issue is still there.

Then I would suggest you try renaming your settings.php and reinstall Drupal to see if that fixes it. You can just enable CiviCRM then without installing it.

Can you tell why a 403 error is generated in this case? And no log entry goes into the drupal dblog.

Fed up with this issue, I installed drupal(6.22) and civicrm(3.4.3) on the root domain. The same issue is showing up there too. But I see something in the recent log entries:
Type: page not found
Location: http://abc.com/sites/all/modules/civicrm/packaganization&reset=1
Referrer: http://abc.com/civicrm/event/add?reset=1&action=add
Message: sites/all/modules/civicrm/packaganization

If I can't find a solution to this problem then I'll have to look for another CRM solution. It has been very frustating to deal with this issue.

I have no idea what that is. I don't think any such URL as

sites/all/modules/civicrm/packaganization&reset=1

nor

civicrm/packaganization&reset=1

exists in CiviCRM.

Sounds like something is not quite right with your install, or perhaps your server. What are your Apache, MySQL and PHP versions?

CiviCRM requires MySQL 5.1: http://civicrm.org/aboutcivicrm but I'm not sure if that's your issue. Seeing as how I don't see any other issue, it may well be a server misconfiguration.

But I didn't see any warning during the civicrm installation. All the items were green on the requirements check page.

I'm not certain if the installer checks for versions of software.

Anyhow I don't have any further ideas I'm afraid, aside from trying another server. :(
