Permission Denied while Creating New Event
June 15, 2011, 01:30:33 am
I had installed CiviCRM 3.4.1 over drupal 6.20. Everything was working fine except I couldn't create new events even though I'm logged in as Administrator. After I filled in the first screen, the next screen throws a 403 - permission denied error. I was clueless with this error. There were no entries in the logs also. I then degraded the civicrm version to 3.3.6 but the issue persisted. I decided to wait for the next stable release of civicrm. Now I've upgraded drupal to 6.22 and have civicrm 3.4.3 but the issue is still there. Can somebody help me out with this? At least point me on how to start troubleshooting this.

Thanks in advance.

Looks strange  ::)
'Administrator', is this user '1' in drupal?
If not, can u check CiviCRM permissions for this role.
Also you can look at Drupals 'Recent log entries' to find some details.

CiviCRM doesn't respect user 1 per se - if the permissions are not enabled in the permissions screen being user 1 won't help so double check there.

@Rajan - Yes, I'm talking about user=1. For permissions, I believe you are talking about ACLs. I set the permission for "Edit Events" to the "Administrator" role. Also, I've enabled all the permissions to the civicrm items under drupal permissions to this role. I don't see anything in the recent logs either.

Can someone help me out? This is really getting frustrating. I'm having the same permission denied issue while importing members too. I can create contribution pages, add individual members/organization etc without any problems. Can anyone tell which civicrm module deals with the permissions?

Can you make sure that the domain is the same? Sometimes you will be at site.com and browse (without realizing it) to www.site.com and then you're not logged in there.

Confirm that your domain is the same.

Yes, domain name is same. As I said I can perform partial operations like add members, contributions pages etc. But the event creation doesn't work. I can see the first page of event creation which has Event Type, Participant Role, Participant Listing etc. After I fill these details and click on Continue I see the permission denied page.

Not sure. If you're really user #1 you have all permissions. I would suggest you try logging out, restart your browser, login again, flush caches, disable and re-enable CiviCRM. Whatever you can to reset things and see.

I've already tried all these options. I've even done a fresh drupal and civicrm install. But the problem persists. One other info. about the domain is that this is a subdomain of a site I'm working on (subdomain.abc.com). The drupal install is also on the subdomain. Do I need to do something different if civicrm is installed on a sub-domain?

Thanks

Well it depends, sometimes. Can you confirm manually that all of the URLs and the paths are correct both in the CiviCRM admin pages and also in civicrm.settings.php?

Hershel, I really appreciate for helping me out with this. I've confirmed that all the URLs and paths are correct in admin. as well as civicrm.settings.php.  Btw, I get an access denied to "http://subdomain.abc.com/civicrm/event/add" from "http://subdomain.abc.com/civicrm/event/add?reset=1&action=add" after I click on the continue button. Does that help? What will be the next debugging step?

Thanks

Search your URL aliases for civicrm/event/add

Shouldn't that be something automatically generated from civicrm? Clean URLs is turned on in drupal.

Yes it should, but something is wrong with your site so I'm trying to debug it. :)

Search for that and see if it's listed once, twice, or not at all.

Clean URLs have no connection to URL aliases BTW.

There are no URL aliases for 'civicrm/event/add ' in the drupal 'url_alias' table. I hope there isn't a separate alias table for civicrm?
