problem creating contacts with drupal
June 15, 2011, 02:26:15 pm
Hi,

I am currently using drupal with civiCRM for a non profit organisation website.

I have a 2 memberships types one is individual and the other one is corporate.

I would like the users to be able to register on my website as individuals (which is not a problem) but also as corporate, I'm using the drupal registration page with the CiviCRM fields and i would like the user to be able to select for which organization he is working  in my organization database if it exists or to create a new organization providing information for his organization.

I then would like the users registered under an organization to be able to modify the information for this organization.

Thank you !!

Hi Thibaud
If the 'registration' is part of the membership (and you require 'create Drupal Account' in one of the Profiles you expose on the Contribution page), then using 'on behalf of' organisations on the Contribution Page you can let someone fill in the organisation details - and there is the option to choose an existing or new organisation but forget what the default is, ie if someone is signing up for the first time they may only currently be allowed to sign up a new organisation.
I think others, maybe stoob, have worked around this so some more searching may find more info.
Anyhow, one an individual has signed up an Org for a Membership, there is a relationship made between the two, and the 'relationship' can be set so that the Individual has 'permission' to change the Orgs primary contact details via the Contact Dashboard.
The recent MIH that has funded an 'on behalf of' via Profile means you can know also collect non-core data about the organisation but not sure if that means those fields become editable via the Contact Dashboard
Hope the above gives you a bit more of the context to explore. To get what you are asking may require use of hooks and some developer skills.

If you are wanting a user to be able to link themselves to 3 organisations and if the org doesn't exist then create a new one you will probably need to look at the webform- civicrm module - new feature on its way soon is ability to have an autocomplete and if the contact is not found, then to create a new one

Dear petednz,

I really appreciate your reply.
after checking Webform CiviCRM Integration drupal . org / project / webform_civicrm where i already installed in my website, it is mentioned:
Webforms display as standalone Drupal pages or blocks. They are not CiviCRM profiles and cannot be inserted into standard CiviCRM workflows.
and this is what i need, i need a drupal user to be able to create an organization where when you check it in civicrm it will exist.

can you help me in this please?

PEACE

Best Regards
Elie

I think you misunderstand those instructions. The entire purpose of webform_civicrm is to create CRM data (so yes if you create an org via webform it will be there when you check Civi).
That sentence refers to how the forms display, not to what they do.

Dear Colemanw,

Thank you for your reply.
I already make a new webform where i was able to give the user from drupal to choose which organization to join, but i checked the organization in civicrm and the user was not registered.
in addition i am not able to add a form where the user can create a new organization.
can you guide me, or do you know any reference that can help me to do it?

waiting to hearing you.

Webform CiviCRM Integration can certainly do those things, so probably you just need to learn a bit more about how to use it.
Be sure you are using the latest 3.x version, and have a look at these instructions, particuarly about doing the combo of "select existing/create new."

can you confirm you have the webform_civicrm module as well as webform and civicrm?

if so, save the webform, and then you should have view / edit / webform / civicrm tabs across the top

This is what your tabs should look like after you click the save button in your screenshot.

Dear My Friends,

Again, i will tell you in details what i have done so i would appreciate your help.

I Created a new Contact Type under individual: "bebelie individual"
I Created a new organization Type: "Bebelie"
I Created a new Organization under "Bebelie" type with the name: "Matta org in Bebelie"
I Created a new Membership under "Matta org in Bebelie" with the name: "bebeliemember"
Now i was able using CIVICRM to insert a new user or existing user to "bebeliemember"

I created a new user in DRUPAL and i implemented the webfor to be able to register to an "bebeliemember" but unfortunately he is not registered.
Please check attached files.

Let me tell you what is my need:
i need to have an organization and people registering to this organization.
it may be existing organization or maybe the users can create a new organization.

waiting to hearing

PEACE

Best Regards
Elie

It sounds like you have not yet read the instructions at http://drupal.org/node/1615380
2 hints:
- You need to add a second contact to the webform - the organization (and set up the relationship between the two contacts)
- You need to be using Webform CiviCRM version 3 if you want the select/create combo for the org.
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.
