Cannot create cases when Settings.xml permits multiple clients

In 3.4 in both Drupal and Joomla

When Settings.xml allows mulitiple clients -

On creating a new case a contact is selected

Other fields are filled in.

On saving the following validation error is reported:

"Please correct the following errors in the form fields below:
Please select a contact or create new contact"

Even when only one client is selected.

The question!

Does this look like a bug that I should report or am I doing something really stoopid?

I have, as far as I can tell, set up the case as per configuration instructions here:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/CiviCase+Configuration#CiviCaseConfiguration-ConfiguringCiviCase

However, noticing that the civiCase component has been removed from the demo makes me think that someone playing with the demo may have turned in on, but of course could not set it up without access to the server - which implies a configuration error on my part.

I've tried taking the training slash from the directory and have put it back again. - this is because the documentation says the civiCase configuration files are in (civicrm_templates path) /CRM/etc...

As you can tell I am clutching at straws

Just to say that I am now experiencing the same problem - except that it occurs in IE as well as Firefox...

Confirmed on clean installation of 3.4 Joomla with sample configuration on localhost

I could carry on, but I'm convinced this is a bug -

My next step will be to start to investigate the code with Xdebug -

Sorry that this is taking a long time - I'm slotting it into a busy period in the day job

In case it's of help, I spent another long time on this yesterday.  Eventually, I concluded that the problem lay in allowing multiple contacts on one case (set in settings.xml). I turned this off and the error message disappears and the system runs OK.  I had also by now upgraded to 3.4.4. 

Given the particular use I am making of CiviCase, the multiple clients option would be very useful, though not at this stage essential.

That's odd, I was sure I'd already covered that one - and as far as I believe the sample cases are all singletons.

Thanks for the post, it gives me encouragement as well as information.

Much of our work is brokerage - early on we implemented civiCase, but rolled back out of it because we really needed more than one client a case and the work-arounds were too hectic.

Christopher you were right - why I thought I'd covered it off I don't know - tired I guess.

When global settings in Settings.xml is set to 1 (multicase) it fails.

There is also another bug that prevents the navigation bar showing create case, but that's a distraction.

For now I am working around by forming an organisation of type 'partnership' with both partner organisations related.
