rename contacts "individuals, households and organizations"

Does anyone know how to rename contacts "individuals, households and organizations" to "x, y, z"?

If you just mean the text where ind/hous/org occurs, you can potentially do that using our translation scheme.

There is no code support to add/remove the above contact types. we'll probably make it more extensible in a 2.x/3.x release

I am wondering if using Drupal String Overrides would work?
Has anyone tried that?

I am trying to figure out if CiviCRM contact type "households" can be changed to a name that accommodations a small business identity that in turn may have various individual contacts associated to them and which are members of organisations and other sub groups within an organisational structure.

Drupal String Overrides wont work since we dont use drupal's translation function, t. We have our own translation function ts. You might be able to apply some ideas from that module to CiviCRM. Please update this thread if you do so.

There is an issue in 2.1: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2808 which makes extending and adapting ts much easier than current.

I've been using to rename the strings as lobo suggested.

Still have one issue on the create new page, where the name "New XXX" isn't translated, but for the rest works.

can u track down where and why the New XXX is not transalated (maybe it is not enclosed in ts?) and let us know. we'll fix it for 2.1
