Hi - I may just be getting very cofnused but on Demo - create an indiv (pd pd) and an org (pd org) as their Employer - give Ind permission on the Org "'pd pd' can view and update information for 'pd org'"
Visit pd pd Contact Dashboard - click through to Edit Contact Information eg http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/contact/relatedcontact?action=update&reset=1&cid=105&rcid=104

see a screen with pd org at top but Org Name and all other fields (coming from the new 'on behalf of' profile) are blank (image 2 v image 1 that shows the info on the 'pd org' Summary screen

more cofnusingly - on my system the Org was a member - and there was a greyed out Renew Membership for' and a 'create new organisation' as if it thought i was at the Contribution Page. (image 3)

ps throw in the website field to the 'on behalf of' profile and get the Parse error (as mentioned in other thread)

ps thought i was just shooting my mouth off as thought - uh oh - maybe the Profile fields are 'main' and the ones i filled in were 'work' but when i changed the pd org address stuff to 'main' it still showed nothing - and of course having the Org Name blank is a bit of a give away that something is amiss.

ps ours is 4.0.3 but testing on demo i guess is 3.4.3

Peter, this is known issue and will be fixed in next release. FYI: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-8306

though i see that ticket is only about the Parse error - what about the whole 'Contact Dashboard' issue?

We have not migrated Related Contact form to use profile. We will check if it is broken.

Thanks Kurund but fixed as in it still uses the On Behalf of Profile but doesn't break now - or fixed as in it is reverted to the pre- On Behalf of work? Seems like the former on the demo which means we can get info collected during a sign up form, but can't then let the contacts up date the info. Is that how you understand it?

Related contact form uses old hardcoded form.

Kurund - could you or Lobo give me your best estimate to fund this development - ie use the "on behalf of profile' to set the fields that are accessible via the 'related contact' option on the dashboard? thanks

If i had to guess, its a 10-20 hour project if we only have ONE profile for all on behalf of pages

however, i think stoob has sponsored and we are working on allowing different profiles to be used for different pages (with a default)

in this case, i'm not sure how we can figure out (w/o storing this info in the DB somewhere) what profile was used. This might increase the cost/complexity of the project

thanks lobo - i should talk with stoob about this - if there are going to be the option of having multiple 'on behalf of' (OBO) profiles (an idea i support), will there be a pre-built one (that is editable) and other profiles that can be made eg by cloning the pre-built one and modifying the fields
I am thinking that the options for related contacts screen might be
  • have a pre-set default but editable OBO profile which is the one used 'related contacts'
  • allow any one of the OBO's to be set to be the 'default' and therefore be the one used for 'related contacts'
