CiviEvent, ACL's, Joomla 1.6
June 20, 2011, 07:30:09 am
Hi,

I'm creating events that only specific user groups can register for. For example, a student from College A may only register for events from their college.

Currently i have setup the event for online registration, and i have setup an ACL role for a group of users (in this case students in a group called college A) that have 'Edit' rights to the event. The issue is that the event (and the registration button) still show up to people in other groups.

I have switched the permissions in the Joomla Access Control (for registered users) to 'Allowed'. Inherited simply hides the register button from everyone.

I'm wondering if i've missed something out in these settings. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Thanks

Andy

anyone have any thoughts on this? i've been going through this for hours and still no further forward.
more info:

a student registers on joomla front end. they are created and assigned to College A group in civicrm.
Events shown on the frontend displays ALL events. (The Events are shown on the front with a menu link to Event Listings.)

i want to allow students in that group (College A) to be able to apply for an event (once logged into the site as a registered user) that has the ACL rule setup as follows:

Role - College A Student
Operation    - Edit
Type of Data - Event
Which Data - Example Event
Description - only students from college A can apply/register
Enabled?  Yes

Currently, (and this is the problem), a student that belongs to College B can see and register for this event.
