'groups' field on profile form set to Pending (by Email)

Hi,

I have the 'Groups' field shown on the prfile form so users can select which group they belong to on the registration form.
(i have left the auto add to group function disabled in the profile settings as i want the user to assign their own group when registering)

when a user registers and selects their group (from a checkbox), they are not auto added. clicking on the contact summary in civ shows a status of Pending (by Email) -Joining these group(s) is pending confirmation by this contact.
Can i turn this 'pending by email' off anywhere so the users are automatically put into groups?

read and enable the setting

CIVICRM_PROFILE_DOUBLE_OPTIN

in your civicrm.settings.php file
