Advanced Search Not Returning Results after Upgrade 4.0.1 - 4.0.4 (Drupal)

After applying the most recent upgrade, the Advanced Search no longer returns contacts when searching for activities.  However, all activities still appear when running the activity report.

I receive the following:
  No matches found for:
Activity Type 'Email Sent' or 'Letter Sent' or 'Outreach Letter Sent' ...AND...
Activity Date - greater than or equal to "June 17th, 2011 12:00 AM" AND less than or equal to "June 24th, 2011 11:59 PM" ...AND...
Activity created by '' ...AND...
Activity Status - 'Scheduled' or 'Completed' ...AND...
Contacts IN Constituent AND Group Status - "Added"

Suggestions:
check your spelling
try a different spelling or use fewer letters
if you are searching within a Group or for Tagged contacts, try 'any group' or 'any tag'
add a New Individual, Organization or Household
make sure you have enough privileges in the access control system

can you reproduce this behavior on our demo server. If so, please file an issue for this

Reproduced on demo server.  Advanced Search for Activities only returns contact who added activity, not the actual contact that participated in the activity.

After going through the change log, I wonder if this issue ( http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-8195 ) may have had an impact on the Advanced Search - Activities form.

I am having this same problem with 3.4.4 .

When I use advanced search to find those people with an activity type of 'Bulk Email' I only get the 2 people who have sent bulk emails, not the 800 who have received them.

I have tried using Search Buider to get around it, but then I get everyone on the database, not just those who have been sent a bulk email.

We are also having the same problem on all our sites using 3.4.4
This is a massive problem for us as all the people we work with use the system to report on who they have done activity work with

I'm coming back to this- because I'm getting the exact same error-
I have a group- not a smart group-
I'm trying to advance search and return a subset from the group-
by just adding street name "wayne"
I've selected Group(s)
and I get this error-

How do I delete the "Group Status - "Added" ..."
because this seems to be the only factor that isn't available to change?
I'm going to try recreating this with a Smart Group- although since this group is built on historical data- it can't add anyone to the group that's not already included.

UPDATE_ Operator error- needed to have WAYNE AVE.
And the solution seems to be to create a TAG or a SMart group for the secondary search- which is MAIN streets-
