upgrade failure on civicrm
January 20, 2008, 05:11:13 pm
I've tried this following the upgrade guide for incremental updates and I'm having some problems with it. I've followed this procedure:

Backed up databases and CiviCRM folder
Switched off CiviCRM
Replaced CiviCRM folder with new version
Ran update.php

When I get to this point, CiviCRM disappears from the modules list. The first time I tried it, I mistakenly ran update after switching on CiviCRM again and I thought this was the problem. However I restored the databases and tried the upgrade again, and the same thing is happening. Is there anything I'm missing or doing wrong that could be preventing the upgrade working?

Thanks.

1. please create a new topic in the right place :)

2. I would check permissions on the civicrm folder and ensure that the web server can read the civicrm directory tree. most of the time the module will not show up if the permissions are not right

3. civicrm does not use the drupal install/update procedure. you'll have to follow the instructions in the wiki

Thanks Donald. I changed the permissions of the new civicrm folder so they're the same as the old one, however it still doesn't seem to be showing up in the Drupal module list.

It's running on a Windows Server 2003 machine with Apache 2 and MySQL 5. Drupal is version 5.3.

Downloaded again and it seems to be working this time. Strangely the version number on the footer is still 11960 although the version file in the folder displays the current one.
