Emailing to Organizations: any way to send emails to their CEO "employee of"?
June 30, 2011, 03:22:09 pm
Hi All,
I current have profiles setup for different organization and their associated employees.  Often time these organization have their "general" email and phone number that they are slow to respond to.  And since we have their CEO/COO's contact information, my boss wants all email communication to go to their associated CEO/COO instead.

My question is: should I manually add the CEO/COO's email address to the organization profile (and set it as primary)?  Or is there an easier way to do this?  I tried to play with the advance search setting on the relationship types, but I am not too smart to figure it out.

Any helps is appreciated.

Great question.

Use "advanced search" to return Contacts of type "Individual" where "CEO of" is the relationship type.   You do this in the relationships section (scroll down) of advanced search.

If your data is accurate, and the people have their relationships already established this should return you a list of all the CEOs.  You can then email this individuals directly.

I am able to pull out the associated CEO/COO information based on your method.  Thanks!

Stoob - I wonder if you can help me with a related issue.

I have various groups of children in Civi and want to email all 'parents of' children in a particular group.  In Advanced Search I can see how you can email the parent of a named individual but not how you can pull up the parents of a whole group of children.  In a Civi blog a while back I read:

Thanx to the boredom of an incredibly long plane ride, CiviCRM Advanced Search now supports viewing details on "related contacts". For e.g., you can specify: Show me the details of all the parents of the kids in the second grade.

... but I can't see how that is possible from the advanced search screen.  Can you enlighten me?  Thanks.

Lindsey

Not sure I fully understand the question or your goals, but here goes......nothing.......

Don't enter the name of anyone.  Leave all 'name' fields (first name, last name, etc) blank.

Instead just scroll down to "Relationships" and select "parent of" in the relationship type.

If you want to restrict your results by a Group, you can do that at the top of the Advanced search form.
